Landmark Building

Landmark Building, Jalan Braga 131. Better remembered as the Van Dorp Bookshop, this building was designed by CP. Wolff-Schoemaker in the Indo-European Style. Of particular interest is the inclusion of traditional decorations such as the two giant Kala heads on the façade. It was a favored hangout for Bandung intellectuals and an annual sales volume of some 500,000 gulden per year (when a luxurious villa cost between 8,000 and 10,000 gulden. The building was purchased and re-used as the Landmark Exhibition Center in the 1990s.
